Snowpocalypse Part Deux

9 Feb

When I say there’s a lot of snow, that’s a pretty big deal.

I’m sure you’re pretty sick of hearing about it, too–it seems to be everywhere. And if you’re anything like my mother, the general theme is “better down there than up here!” (if you happen to be my Northeastern students…if you’re from SWVA, you’re in my boat, I know it (:).

But with delays, and our snow day Friday I’ve had a lot of extra time to ponder things, like why when I tried to post the events calendar before did it not really work. I’m happy to report that after some deep thinking and pondering, I FINALLY got it right today…so here it is, the link to our Google-fied “what’s happening at the Briar” calendar!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We used to live on campus in the attic of House One, which over looks the main dell that girls will go sledding in.  The first few big snows after we moved in together, JGL would wake up in the middle of the night wondering what the howling noise was.  I had tuned out the squeals of SBC girls sledding down the dell long ago, but their joyous screams of laughter would loft up into the apartment, filling it with fond memories from my time at Sweet Briar.

We live off campus now, so I don’t have access to current pictures of the snow there, but my student LT in SWVA has started a snow family, which as inspired JGL and I to start our own.  I haven’t had a snowman this big since I was a kid!

Stuck

There was snow, glorious snow this weekend–we even made the weather channel at a whopping 15 inches! And today there’s ice, dangerous yucky ice.

I’ll take snow any day.

The college did get a delay today, but after Greenie the Car slid back down my hill I made the executive decision that I’m better off staying home.

Funny enough, I’m pretty bummed about this. I misses seeing the fabulous Alex T. while she was on campus, and my inbox is filled with e-mails that deserve responses NOT typed out on the iPod. Fingers crossed that the re-freeze tonight isn’t too bad.

Until then, dear readers, I’m off to bake snickerdoodles (as requested from my students) and work on conquering dust bunnies–more substantive posts once I have a computer to work with!
